How is egg tempura? Is that as awesome as some people say it is? Going from questions about the medium to the painting, I must say that realism - especially that of human beings and facial portraits - catches my attention the most. Your realism is top-notch, and for a self-portrait - wow. That's a lot of detail, and your rendering is so fantastic that I bet people will recognize you from first glance at this piece. This art also reminds me of the old master Caravaggio (one of my favorite Renaissance painters) with the chiaroscuro shading and heavy modeling. I love the gold effects, and the dark, limited palette.
